Fazenda Monte Verde is an award-winning coffee farm in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. The coffee grows alongside more than 400 acres of natural reserve lands that are home to a rich diversity of bird species, endangered wolves, and even a troop of monkeys. With neighbors like that, it's no wonder the farm focuses on long-term sustainability.
We have purchased this same coffee a number of times, repeatedly choosing it above other Brazilians in blind tastings. It has a classic Brazil flavor profile, with notes of peanut butter and dark chocolate, a bit of red fruit or raisin in the background, and just a touch of smokiness. We've roasted to give it a really nice big body, low acidity, and a hint of honey sweetness that handles cream very well.
