Tasting Notes: Dark Chocolate, Salted Caramel, Blackberry
Origin: Rwenzori Mountains, North Kivu, Democratic Republic of the Congo
What a treat! It's tough to get coffee from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, so we jumped on the opportunity to purchase a small amount of this lovely organic and Fairtrade coffee from the Kawa Kanzururu Cooperative.
The farms of the cooperative are located on the slopes of the Rwenzori Mountains, bordering Virunga National Park. They are working with the innovative non-profit Farm Africa, which aims to reduce poverty by helping African farmers grow their incomes in an environmentally sustainable way. Through the partnership, farmers are able to boost crop yields and gain access to international markets while protecting the environment for generations to come.
This is a nice sweet, clean, and bright cup of coffee with heavy body and notes of dark chocolate, caramel, and blackberry.
